The development of an activist "subculture" was instrumental in developing a public sphere among activists prior to the Sunflower Movement

In examining how youth activists came together to form a sort of “subculture” in Taiwanese, we can point to how activists took to dressing similarly, frequenting the same places, and attending the same sorts of events. This was what led to a public sphere forming among youth activists and also what established a social consensus among activists, politically, as well as developing the trust networks among Taiwanese youth activists which led to the the development of Taiwanese youth activism. We might take a look at some of the features of this “subculture.”
