The Independent Company Of Lane Eight

The Independent Company of Lane Eight kept watch over Lane Eight of Linsen South Road

The Independent Company of Lane Eight (八巷獨立連) was an independently organized group of individuals who kept watch over Lane Eight of Linsen South Road, a vulnerable spot in which the Legislative Yuan could have been invaded by police, but which organizers within the Legislative Yuan were not keeping watch themselves. The Independent Company of Lane Eight in this way did not see themselves as subordinate to those who were within the Legislative Yuan, although they also contributed to the movement. When they withdrew at the end of the movement, a memorial for the movement was left at Lane Eight.
